Congratulations to Byron!

Hello all

Congratulations to Byron! He's a fellow member of the downtown Pomeroy Arts, Entertainment & Historical District. http://www.downtownpomeroy.com/ This month he's the cover and centerfold feature in Artscene Magazine.

I liked the comment ":Small Town Version 2.0. Gives us all something to think about. I especially liked that they called Byron "middle aged" He's a month older than I am!. This town wouldn't be near as great without him. True to form he brought us some wonderful live music last weekend; a Colorado Bluegrass Band named Lonesome Traveler:

Glass Buttons

Hello all

A question: What do Edgar Degas & I have in common?

The Answer: We both have some of our work at the Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha.

http://www.joslyn.org/

One major difference you'll notice right away is that his can't be bought and taken home with you. Mine can! I'm happy to report the Joslyn Museum Gift Store will be carrying my kaleidoscopes.

Also, more good news in the fiber arts end of my business. Leslie at Ewe-Phoria Yarns has a larger selection of my drop spindles now. Both in bocote and cocobolo. They are specially made to be used as either a top whorl or bottom whorl spindle. Since the whorls are removable, you can buy additional whorls separately to use for spinning different weights of yarn.

Next week she'll have a new line of mine. Glass buttons. They're made of fused glass with a little touch of dichroic glass in each one. Check above for a sample of some 1 ¼ inch square ones for purse latches. There'll be more sizes and selection next week. Her online store is at:

Her real store is at 101 NW 7th Street in Pocahontas, Iowa

Until next time,

Leonard

Midwest Living Magazine Article May 30, 2008

It's been a great day at The Kaleidoscope Factory. You may remember last Fall I told you Midwest Living Magazine was here. Today I got an e-mail from the Discoveries Editor there asking for kaleidoscopes for a June 10th photo Shoot. She says I'll be featured in the November/December issue. Yee ha!

From over at the Fonda Arts Center:

Beginning guitar lessons are being offered by Marilyn Schmitt through the Fonda Arts Center in Fonda, starting with a planning session Wednesday, June 4, at 7:00 P.M. at the Fonda Arts Center in Fonda. Call Marilyn 288-6218 or Annie 288-6278, or just show up!

The Fonda Arts Center presents Music/Art Drop-in Sunday, June 8th from 1:00 4:00 at the Fonda Arts Center, Fourth & Main Streets in Fonda. The Kuklenz family will host the music in an extravaganza of “oldies”, Broadway hits, gospel and patriotic. Sing-a-longs, and instrumentals. Look forward to the sound of Larry Heschke and Tammy Voss Lange accompanied by the Kuklenz girls, a replay of earlier times! Tammy is my cousin's daughter so I'll be going over for sure!

On the art side, a display of quilts by Marge Fritz will add interest and color to the day. As always, something refreshing to eat. No admission charge. Everyone welcome!!

Until next time,

Leonard
